The Master's research project in the Master of Project Management programme provides students with the opportunity to conduct independent, in-depth research into a significant issue relevant to the project management profession. Undertaken under academic supervision, this research-based project is designed to develop and showcase students’ ability to apply advanced theoretical knowledge and research methodologies to real-world challenges within the New Zealand project management context. Students will demonstrate critical awareness of current trends, challenges, and debates in the field by undertaking a thorough literature review, collecting and analysing data - often in collaboration with industry stakeholders - and generating practical, evidence-based insights. The project culminates in the development of innovative approaches or strategies that contribute to both academic knowledge and professional practice. This capstone research project affirms students’ capability to lead, influence, and advance the project management discipline.
