Students will be introduced to a variety of linguistic and sociolinguistic topics, including a general overview of the history and formation of the language, syntax, varieties of Peninsular and Latin American Spanish, writing styles and register, and idiomatic expressions. In parallel, the course will focus on creative writing in Spanish, covering storytelling, character creation, and techniques from renowned authors across the Spanish-speaking world. The content of this course is designed to engage students in reflecting on the use and formation of the Spanish language from both theoretical and practical perspectives, while developing their communicative, analytical, and creative writing skills in meaningful cultural contexts.
