Behaviour Change in Nutrition & Physical Activity
Description
This course examines the principles and key concepts of behaviour change theories and models of behaviour change and their application to physical activity and nutrition. Nutrition and physical activity are leading contributors to health outcomes in New Zealand and internationally. While behaviour and behaviour change are highly complex processes, this course will enable an understanding of the factors and processes that contribute to people adopting, maintaining, and modifying behaviour in these domains. Students will leave the course having critically analysed why individuals make the decisions they do in health and apply this knowledge in supporting individuals, families, and communities to improve their health behaviour. This course specifically examines the factors associated with nutritional and physical activity behaviours and approaches to modifying behaviour are evaluated.
